The Black Alumni Society (BAS) was formed to keep the African American
graduates of North Carolina State University in contact with one another
after completing their studies at the University. Today, with over 6800
black alumni, BAS serves as an irreplaceable tool for allowing fellow
friends of old and new to come together and network with others of whom
they have many things in common.
Mission
The Black Alumni Society strives to foster opportunities for African
American alumni, students, faculty, staff and university friends to
become actively involved in enriching NC State now and in the future.
The Black Alumni Society serves as a conduit for increasing alumni interaction
with their alma mater through communication, outreach, education and
events.
Purpose
- Promote the growth, progress, and general welfare of alumni and students
of African descent of North Carolina State University.
- Foster among current and former students a sentiment of regard for
one another and a continuing attachment to their alma mater.
- Provide outreach, information and services to alumni, students, faculty
and staff.
- Develop chapters of Black Alumni Society in other locations.
- Increase the number of undergraduate and graduate scholarships.
- Increase BAS financial contributions to the African American Cultural
Center.
